The Pacers Beginner & Re-Beginner (B&RB) Training Program is a new, specially designed regimen for women of all ages who have never run at all and for women who once ran consistently, but haven’t run for a while. Personalized coaching is provided in a supportive team environment with knowledgeable and committed coaching – and motivation – by the training partners. That means you can accomplish so much more than training on your own.
Starting in January 2008, this comprehensive program for women is the platform for setting reasonable goals, working hard to achieve those goals and having a lot of fun reaching those goals. Imagine crossing the finish line for the first time regardless of the race distance and experiencing the feeling of accomplishment that is like no other . . . this is Coach Sandy May’s commitment to you.
Workout Schedule, Aims, Organized Runs:
Participants in the B&RB Training Program will workout 52 weeks a year. New members can join at any time throughout the year. Preparing for the Spring and Fall races will be done in a very conservative fashion – staying healthy is a major focus. The group will avoid excessive amounts of high intensity/high volume training. Steady and consistent training will be the means to injury-free, race-ready fitness.
One of the keys to the program’s success for new members is having the support of Sandy along with other seasoned runners from Pacers who will join the B&RB Training Program group from time to time. The group’s individual members can have a huge impact on each other's attitudes and accomplishments! The time spent before and after the training run is just as important as the actual run.
There will be two organized runs each week with one "long, slow run" on Saturday mornings and a group run on Tuesdays or Thursdays. All runs will be a little different in one way or another. Staying fresh both physically and mentally depends on mixing things up. No one will be "too slow" for B&RB. Runners quickly gravitate to those who are at the same pace. No need to think you will be alone. The balance of the weekly mileage will be done on one's own. Even then the members of the group quickly form smaller groups for the weekly easy runs on their own. These relationships are so valuable and can literally last a lifetime. It will happen!
