Rod DeVar
Rod DeVar thought his running days were over 25 years ago when he developed a chronic knee problem. Five years ago, after observing how all of his four children had benefitted from prescription orthodics as West Potomac High School distance runners he decided to get a pair and try running again. They worked like a charm. Rod competes in three to five events a year ranging from 5 Ks to half marathons. He is currently training for his first marathon this March - the National Marathon.
After 32 years as a marketing professional at the US Postal Service, Rod retired in January. He and his Catherine have always been boosters of the high school cross country and track teams. Now that he has more time he will be getting actively involved in the local area youth running programs.
Best Performance: The Montgomery Parks Half Marathon in 2008.
He finished second in his age group on an unseasonably warm day in October.

It just feels good.

It has a great neighborhood feel to it. He likes that they always make room to employ a couple of the area high school runners. |
