Hema Khanchandani

Ever since she’s moved to the area, Hema Khanchandani has developed a love for running around DC. There’s something to be said about running around the nation’s capitol among historical monuments. Each year Hema usually runs a marathon and several other local races. She’s also been actively involved with and raised money for Asha for Education - a charity program devoted to educating underprivileged children in India.

Additionally, as a public health professional, Hema’s former job involved writing guides on building community trails and promoting physical activity. Currently, Hema works in international tobacco control research and resides in Arlington.

Favorite Race: Hmmm..tough one! Each race is special.

Favorite Running Location: Mt. Vernon Trail, alongside the Potomac. My long runs feel incomplete with a view of the water, monuments and Gravelly Point.
