Event Management and Timing Services

Pacers Events, a sister corporation to Pacers Running Stores, is a diversified sports promotion and race management company comprised of a team of individuals with varied business, education, event, and sports backgrounds.

Since our beginning in 2004, Pacers Events has evolved into the leading boutique race management company in the greater Washington D.C. area. Under the direction of Pacers Event Managing Partner, Kathy Dalby, our organization has created a collection of events focused on delivering a unique and exciting race experience for our participants.

Our company was formed after the hugely successful inaugural Gulf Coast Relief Run 5K, an event concept developed and executed only two and a half weeks after Hurricane Katrina. The event drew a crowd of over 4,000 participants, raised over $120,000 for relief efforts, and received local and national attention.

Pacers Events has extensive experience with bringing new events to the greater Washington D.C. metro area and has been the creative force behind some of the largest and most well-received race debuts in recent history. Our organization has developed, promoted, and executed over 15 inaugural Pacers events including the Crystal City Twilighter, Pacers Running Festival, Fairfax Four, Clarendon Day 10K/5K, and the Crystal City 5K Fridays race series. We have also been successful in building the success of established races. Our marquee event, the George Washington Parkway Classic 10 Mile & 5K, began in 1984 as a 15K and quickly became a local favorite event. In 2006, Pacers Events acquired the event and quickly grew it from 2,500 registrants to a sell out crowd of 7,000 registrants.
HOW WE ASSIST AREA EVENTS

Pacers Events also offers management and timing services to area events. We work closely with clients to ensure the success of their event and develop packages that fit their individual needs and resources.

Timing & Scoring

We own the state-of-the-art IPICO timing tag system and can rent tags or create custom designed disposable/recyclable tags for your event. Our tag system is durable, customizable, affordable, and recyclable and is the preferred timing system of several national level road races.

We also use manual timing techniques for events not needing electronic timing. Manual timing is an economical timing solution for smaller charity events (less than 500) looking to maximize their fundraising.

Management

Pacers Events manages and assists several non Pacers-owned events each year. These events include: Arlington 9-11 Memorial 5K, GW Birthday 10K, BA 5K, Wilson Bridge Half Marathon , and the ACT-Run for the Rainforest 5K.

Management service packages are developed based on client needs and budgets and Pacers Events availability. Packages include full-service event management, first year race director programs, finish line management, and timing & scoring.
