New Balance

XC Spikes-1200x600-NBXC5000

5000 XC V3 – $125

The 5000 XC is New Balance’s premium cross country spike. It’s 5-spike configuration and burrito construction on the upper gives the aggression and attitude of a track spike while allowing you to cut through mud and hills.  It’s light weight (5.5oz), breathable, and barefoot friendly.  Plus, Pacers Running has made an All-Run Washington edition of this spike for the 60 top high school cross country athletes in the area!

XC Spikes-1200x600-NBXC900

900 XC V3 – $85.00

The 900 XC provides less aggressive fit and more affordable price point than the 5000 XC.  The third edition of this cross country spike brings a 6-pin spike plate and aggressive rubber outsole for better traction as well as arch-hugging support on the upper.

XC Spikes-1200x600-NBXC700

700 XC V4 – $70.00

The 700 XC V3 was a huge hit last year and it’s new update is even better.  Priced at a reasonable $70, this work-horse spike weighs in at just 6.1oz.  New Balance brings it’s REVlite cushioning system from road shoes to cross country spikes in this model and the kids are loving it.

Nike

XC Spikes-1200x600-NikeVictoryXCNike Zoom Victory XC 3 – $120

Weighing in at 4.7oz, this is Nike’s top of the line cross country spike.  While very light weight, the dynamic flywire cables and a single-layer mono mesh upper deliver a lockdown fit and lightweight breath-ability. The anatomical rubber outsole has flex grooves that provides great traction and a natural range of motion.

XC Spikes-1200x600-NikeRivalXC Nike Zoom Rival XC – $65

The Zoom Rival XC is Nike’s top-seller cross country spike because of it’s affordable price point and comfortable fit. The waffle outsole is extremely durable and great for any surface.

Saucony

XC Spikes-1200x600-SauconyHavokXC

Havok XC – $85.00

The Saucony Havok XC is the replacement for the Shay XC (now discontinued). It’s Saucony’s mid-priced cross country spike with a full carbon outsole and true 6-pin spike configuration. Look for this spike to win over new customers with its sleak design and seamless fit.

XC Spikes-1200x600-SauconyKilkennyXC

Kilkenny XC – $60.00

The Kilkenny has been a cross country favorite for years. It’s the most affordable cross country spike on the market and provides a relaxed fit for those not accustomed to wearing competition spikes. The rubber outsole and 4-pin spike plate provides enough traction to get you from start to finish without any trouble in the mud, grass, rocks, or what have you.

Under Armour

XC Spikes-1200x600-UnderArmourXC

Bandit XC – $110

This spike is Under Armour’s first ever cross country spike.  It’s built with an ankle bootie to keep rocks and grime out as well as to provide additional ankle support for those technical cross country courses. It’s breathable, lightweight mesh upper and rubber outsole compound with unique traction lugs for grip and stability makes for an all-around terrific competition spike.
