You may have noticed that there is a lot of construction going on at our Clarendon location. But, we hope it won’t stop you from dropping in. We want to assure you that we are still open, and hope you will put in just a little extra bit of effort to navigate the maze in front of you and find the path to our entrance. The good news is that all this upheaval signals the start of some really dramatic changes to come!
First, Arlington County is tackling some much needed streetscape repairs and improvements that will make our block quite a bit more pleasant for pedestrians and runners alike. Meanwhile, Piedmont Office Realty Trust, the owner of our building, is following through on phase two of a $25 million renovation project which will transform the outer facades to improve the look of the building and make it a better fit for the neighborhood. A major part of their work will involve re-configuring our entrance and, in so doing, adding more square footage to our shop floor. Finally, and the best part of all, this construction will pave the way for us to go forward with a long-awaited plan to renovate and update our store interior.
By the end of this week, the County should have completed their work to level the sidewalk and replace drains along the curb. When they have finished, construction will begin on our space. The facades will be updated with new stone pilaster and stainless steel finishings and the windows will be enlarged and extended further down toward the ground. Ultimately, this will allow for better views into our store and for our window displays to really come to life.
Eventually, the circular foyer that makes up our front entrance will be closed off and become part of our interior space. Meanwhile, a new entrance will be created facing Clarendon Boulevard.
All of these changes should be completed by July 1st and will really make our store an attractive, dynamic, corner landmark. And, with so much jazzed up curb appeal, we will be eager to embark on a major redesign inside the shop. We know that with a modernized layout and updated features, we will be better able to highlight our great products and make for a more fun and engaging shopping experience.
We do regret the inconvenience or confusion this construction might cause, but we hope you will join in our excitement for the incredible improvements on the way. We are grateful for our building owner’s vision for a more engaging and connected space and can’t wait for our community to share in the results. Stay tuned, Clarendon!
