The Scoop: September 11, 2017

Let’s support those recovering from Hurricane Harvey in Texas (and now Irma in Florida). We have two ways to do that, one is our limited edition We Run for Texas shirts are on sale at all Pacers Running locations and online. All proceeds from the purchase goes to support the work of the Red Cross as they assist the people affected by Hurricane Harvey and Irma.

The second option is making a donation which you can also do at all Pacers Running locations. As part of a coordinated relief effort, you can also drop off gently used running shoes and new socks between now and September 24.  #shoesforhouston

Let’s get right to it, there are so many things going on this week and you are not going miss out on any of it. Kicking off Monday with two strong options for you, beer and donuts. Here are all of the details to get both and much more this week.

Who does not love an ever popular, ever delicious, treat from Sugar Shack? Tonight you can join Pacers 14th Street for a run followed but Sugar Shack donuts in store. Celebrate the newest addition to the neighborhood with a run followed by treats. Run starts at 6:30pm and donuts are ready for your when you are done.

Joggers and Lagers is on tonight at Port City Brewery at 7pm. Run followed by beers in the tasting room is a strong contender for showing Monday who is boss.

#Shacktrackandfield is back! Hop on the fun run train from Pacers 14th Street, Navy Yard, Clarendon and Shake Shack Pentagon Row will all converge on Shake Shack Dupont Circle. Run with your fun run group and let the Shack buy your first drink. Perfection.

Pre-run meet at Pacers Navy Yard at 6:30 for a mini- nutrition workshop. Perhaps the message is everything in moderation?

If you are closer to Pacers Fairfax come out and test run some New Balance shoes on your run. The run starts at 7pm and get there a tiny bit early to get your New Balance’s ready to go.

Get your long run in with Pacers Runner in Chief, Chris Farley as he leads a weekend long run at 7am. The run will kick off from MedStar’s downtown facility at Lafayette Centre, Building 1, 1120 20th St., NW, Washington DC at 7am and roll from there.

Warm-up pre run with MedStar PT Katie Rogowski. She will  stick around post-run to answer any questions you may have about any nagging pains you may have.

Clarendon Day Run

We are closing in on The Clarendon Day Run, get your friends, your running partners, and your family dialed in for a great day of racing. The Clarendon Day Run is on Sunday September 24 with options to run the 5k, 10k, or the Double, all distances  have a serious downhill start. The best part is you don’t have to run back up, you can just stroll to our post race after party at Whitlow’s on Wilson and Ireland’s Four Courts. Have little runners? They can join you in the 5k or our Kids Dash. Just like Clarendon itself this race has something for everyone.

To sweeten the deal you can get a race shirt OR Retail Bucks plus a Whole Foods Market $5.00 gift card. You choose if the shirt is what you really want or $10 to spend at Pacers Running and $5 to shop at Whole Foods Market. Packet pick open during regular business hours at Pacers Clarendon from now until race day. Come when it is convenient for you and we are here ready to help.

Episode 121: Criss Cross Apple Sauce

It is one of our shortest shows ever, we try to limit the content to announcements and complaining, tell us what you think of the new format. We start off with the standard weather report before we make some exciting announcements like (4:42) we are now on facebook and (8:09) the sweatshirts are on the way, we swear. At (9:24) Farley looks for sympathy, and for some strange, miscalculated reason he turns to Docs. At (17:57) we get back on the announcement train and tell you all about our next planned road trip to the Running Event, which is a prelude to (19:37) actual running talk. Finally at (24:49) we recap our Judge Judy Experiment Recap.

Downward Plog Let’s talk about last night. Downward Plog went down at Pacers Navy Yard, and the surrounding neighborhoods, and it was epic. You all brought your A game and picked up loads of trash- chicken wings anyone? We laughed, were a tiny bit grossed out and, most importably made the community a tiny bit […]
