The Scoop: August 28, 2017

Training for a fall distance event? Yup, we thought so. Training is ramping up and at some point soon all of your favorite running routes get a little…worn out. Take your training miles on the road with us to beautiful Annapolis, Maryland for the first official Pacers RUNAWAY. On Saturday September 16 we will have a 3 hour supported run on the B&A Trail followed by an all you can eat crab feast at Cantler’s Riverside Inn. Meet us at the trail at 7am or catch a ride on the Brooks Run Happy Bus leaving Pacers Navy Yard at 6am. We will have everything you need to bag some big mies in Maryland and celebrate the journey with delicious eats at a legit local joint. Check out all of the details here and if you have any specific questions feel free to email [email protected]

Run With Us

This week we have runs from all of our locations, plus check out the track workout options to add some snap to your steps. Some highlights for this week are listed below.

Start your week off with a Monday evening run from Port City Brewing Company, every Monday evening through the summer months.

The run meets at the brewery tasting room before heading out for a 1, 3 or 5 mile run (it’s an out and back route so really it’s as long as you care to make it). It’s a pleasant route through a park and then picking up a paved path along Holmes Run.

Altra Fun Run 7pm at Pacers Clarendon

Bet you have seen Altra shoes out and about but have you tried them on? Have you run in them? Find out what the hype is about and take a pair of Altras for a test run tomorrow night with the Pacers Clarendon crew. Meet at the store at 7pm, all paces welcome.

Asics at Pacers Fairfax 7pm

Try on the latest Asics shoes at Pacers Fairfax this Thursday at 7pm. Asics are always a solid choice and see if these are the next pair of shoes you need.

Upcoming Races:

Arlington Police, Fire & Safety 9/11 Memorial 5k

Looking for an early September 5k? We have the perfect one for you. The Arlington Police, Fire & Sheriff 9/11 Memorial 5k. The race is on  Saturday September 9 at 6pm and starts at the DoubleTree Hotel, 300 Army Navy Drive, Arlington. This race supports charities who in turn support families of fallen public safety officers and our Armed Services. Race director Sean Bryson shared the story of how the race came to be and what it means to him and the community.

Clarendon Day

Sunday September 24 get your fall PR at the Clarendon Day Run. Run the 5k, 10k, or the Double. All distances  have a serious downhill start, have you seen Wilson Blvd? It is steep! The best part is you don’t have to run back up, you can just stroll to our post race after party at Whitlow’s on Wilson and Ireland’s Four Courts. Have little runners? They can join you in the 5k or our Kids Dash. Just like Clarendon itself this race has something for everyone.

Veterans Day 10k

On November 2 at 8am come to West Potomac Park and run or walk to honor our Nation’s Veterans at the Veterans Day 10K & Tidal Basin Fun Walk. There’s no better place to celebrate Veterans than in the Nation’s Capital, and, fittingly, the course runs near several of the city’s great war memorials. Rather then race medals we have coins, a nod to our military. Thank you for your service and we look forward to running with you on November 2.

Jingle All The Way 5k and 15k

Winter is coming and so is Pacers Jingle All the Way 5k and 15k. On December 1o at 8am we will run the streets of DC for either a 5k or 15k. This year we have sweetened the deal with awesome premiums and delicious post race eats. You are not going to want to miss this race. Get in now for the best price now and be prepared to celebrate the season with us.

Labor Day Weekend Sale

This weekend starting Thursday and running through Monday, stop in to Pacers Running to save on the gear you need to train for and race all of the above!

Downward Plog Let’s talk about last night. Downward Plog went down at Pacers Navy Yard, and the surrounding neighborhoods, and it was epic. You all brought your A game and picked up loads of trash- chicken wings anyone? We laughed, were a tiny bit grossed out and, most importably made the community a tiny bit […]
