The Fairfax Four Miler is still on; Modifications Made
The race will go on, with some modifications for safety.
What better way to ring in the new year than a run with thousands of your closest running buddies? Celebrating our ninth year, the Fairfax Four is a favorite for its post-race pizza party and cozy sweatshirt premium! Register early to secure your sweatshirt and your spot in this sell out event!
Please follow the “Updates” message noted in the header above for the latest news on the race!
Including wind chill we will all be braving temps no colder than 5 degrees. To insure a fun and successful race for us all, here are some tips we’re asking you to consider following:
* Choose a 1-Mile race course – enjoy all of the New Year Kick Off Fun in the lite version! Make your decision as late as race night to turn around on the short course!
* Pick up your race packet now – race bib and gift item today or tomorrow in the early-day PPU window. That will keep the race night line short and you will not need to fumble in the cold with the pieces and parts of your packet.
* Bag Drop is canceled -plan to arrive at the start line wearing what you want to run in.
* We will not have a pre-race indoor warm area large enough to accommodate the entire race — Old Town Hall will be an in-and-out opportunity only. Please be creative with using a personal vehicle or other for pre-race comfort.
* The water stop will not be set up, if you will want to have hydration on course please plan to carry it with you – a bottle, a camel back etc.
* The usual post-race Awards presentations will not be held, instead all awards are being made available at the Fairfax store (or transfer to another Pacers location) during regular store hours — cash awards mailed as usual.
* Have a GREAT New Year’s kickoff with us!

This is a kid and pet friendly event! However, runners with strollers or pets on a leash are asked to start at the back.
This event starts after dark. While we do place light towers at strategic points in the course, there still will be areas where it may be darker than others. Please be sure to be cognizant of your surroundings including your fellow runners.
Pacers Running runs our events rain, snow, or shine. We adhere to strict internal procedures related to course safety and work closely with our municipality partners and medical providers. If at any time we believe the course is or will be unsafe we reserve the right to modify, delay, or cancel the event. However, we do our best to communicate any changes or updates to our participants in real time via Twitter and our website. Please note that in our almost decade of producing events we have only canceled one event and modified two courses due to weather (this one included when in 2008 a downed power line of all things forced a double loop reroute!)
Hot pizza and beverages will be served post-race to all participants in Old Town Hall.
