Race History

There have been different iterations of this event along the way, but it has been bringing cheer to participants for 27 years straight, with this year’s edition set to be the 28th annual race.

Previously, permitting issues had caused it to be held as an 8k for a stretch. But, now, for the second year, it will be located by the Washington Monument grounds where runners will tackle a 10k course along with a 5k course.

Last year, runners raved about the new, scenic course which offers a unique opportunity to run on rarely available city streets.

Benefitting the DCXC Project

A portion of proceeds from this event supports the DCXC Project, a year long initiative to get kids involved in running and running related sports, with a concentration on DC schools and programs (elementary through high school).

Race Partners

Shake Shack

You’ve tried Shake Shack in their locations across DC, and on the #shacktrackandfield runs, but now we’re bringing Shake Shack to the race! They’ll be cooking up their tasty goodness right on site following your run.  Thank you Shake Shack!

With amazingly unique and savory flavors, KRAVE Jerky is tender, wholesome, and seriously satisfying… whether you’re navigating the trail, the turnpike or Tuesday afternoon. Thank you for providing samples at the finish!

The O’Neill James School  of Irish Dance is a family-run, student-oriented school for Irish dancers of all ages and abilities. Established in Washington DC in 1969 and located in Falls Church, Virginia, ONJ is proud to be  the longest-running Irish dance school in the Nation’s Capital and one of the oldest in the United States.   It enjoys a well-deserved reputation for quality and excellence offering individual and team competitions, performances, non-competitive events, summer camps or just weekly classes. To love to dance is most important.  Thank you for supporting the Pacers St. Pat’s Runs!
