Course Description

This flat and fast course will take runners through East and West Potomac Parks in Washington, DC, taking in gorgeous views of famous Monuments and the Potomac River. The Start and Finish lines are located on Ohio Drive SW, across Independence Avenue from the Lincoln Memorial.

In the 10k race, you’ll pass the Tidal Basin, head towards Hains Point, and turn around for sightings of the Jefferson Memorial and Air Force Memorial before hitting the home stretch.

Start and Finish Line Details

The Start Line and Finish Line is located on Ohio Drive, SW across Independence Avenue from the Lincoln Memorial. Near the baseball fields on the grounds of West Potomac Park we will have a number of amenities.

There will be a Bag Check area where attendants will monitor your items if you leave them using the official race bag provided at Packet Pickup.

Prior to the race, water will be available for filling water bottles. After the race, we will have further refreshments for you to refuel.

Before or after the race, be sure to visit the photo booth located near the Start/Finish Line!

 

On Course Support

Certain things you can’t do without. We have made sure to provide all of the necessities.

Water will be available at the Start/Finish Line area as well as at a water station on course. There will be one water station for the 10k race at the half way point but you will be able to access it twice, before and after the turn-around.

US Park Police will lead the race while more officers and a Race Crew member trail all competitors to monitor for any irregular situations that may arise and require attention.

Lastly, we have will port-a-potties at the Start/Finish Line area.

We’re Looking Out For Your Safety

Lisa, our Race Director, makes no bones about it– making sure the race course is completely safe is our top priority. We have thought through all the details including providing cones, barriers, signage, and directionals so that the course is well marked and placing crew and volunteers so there’s help if you need it. We work closely with municipalities to ensure we have police and medical support always on hand. Our high standards ensure you can let loose and enjoy your run.
